Monday blues: January 16th, 2017

It came as something of a surprise to hear that the third Monday of January is thought of as the most depressing day of the year;

For most of 2017 so far, I feel there are reasons to be cheerful, and optimistic for the year ahead.

A little research has revealed that in 2005, a Psychologist thought it might be a good idea to create a scientific reason why someone might want to think about booking a summer holiday at this time of year.

This is the formula used to calculate when the day is supposed to arrive: – {[W + (D-d)] x T^Q} ÷ [M x N_a].

If you want to know more about how the formula is derived, or need some ideas to Beat Blue Monday in future, please visit the website >>

The aim is to help “reduce the stigma associated with depression by talking about it”, and using Blue Monday as a day to experience more happiness.

2017 | Chinese New Year | The year of The Rooster | We have just entered the Chinese year of The Rooster, also known as the Cockerel (male chicken) and represented by the Mandarin Chinese character: 鸡We have just entered the Chinese year of The Rooster, which is also known as the Cockerel (male chicken) and represented by the Mandarin Chinese character:

People in birth sign years are believed to offend Tai Sui (The God of Age), who brings bad luck.

According to Chinese tradition, and if you are born under the sign of the Rooster, wearing red during your birth year will bring you luck, prosperity, success, happiness and a good year.

You can wear red socks, red shoes, or red clothes, and red underwear is also recommended during your birth year.

However, there is one rule that you need to apply, or the red won’t ward off bad luck. You cannot buy, for example, the red underwear yourself. It should be purchased by a spouse, family member, or friend.

My pedalboard has seen a few changes in the last 18-months. My new set up for 2017 is a compact board for some specific effects pedals which are going to be used on a couple of new tracks I’m about to record. Everything is “front row” to keep the pedal chain simple and cable lengths short.

I’m way beyond excited (!) to have two new Earthquaker Devices on board. In the shape of the ‘Night Wire’ tremolo and ‘Spatial Delivery’ filter. Here is a link to a review I wrote recently about the Night Wire tremolo >>

January | 2017 | Monday Blog | | Viola exam

I am extremely proud of my daughter who passed her Grade one Viola exam this month.

She very narrowly missed out on gaining a Merit award by just three marks.

Until next time! | by Simon Edward | January 30th, 2017.
